"See you at the debates, bitches"
When you get called out, as Paris Hilton recently was by a political ad that tried to paint her and Barack Obama in unflattering light, you have three options:
- Ignore it and hope it goes away. Might happen, but Google never forgets.
- Profess your outrage. Then you risk stoking the fires of others who like to pile on to drama.
- Cleverly make fun of yourself and the situation. Bonus: come up with a catchphrase that trumps the trumper.
Paris Hilton followed option three with this video, which has now been seen 3 million times. Of course she employed the bonus of option three, which is "See you at the debates, bitches."
As Mark Cuban once said, everything he knows about PR he learned from Paris Hilton.
Other blogs that reference "See you at the debates, bitches":
definitely the line of the summer. :-)
some good discussion going on here, too: http://www.blogher.com/video-paris-hilton-responds-john-mccain-who-used-her-image-ad
The WRITER OF THIS AD AND pARIS hILTON ARE TO BE CONGRATULATED!
raise your hand if you never thought you'd utter the words, "That Paris Hilton video was awesome!!!"
@Chris: Absolutely the line of the summer.
@Patricia: LOL. The way the McCain campaign is going, Paris Hilton looks like the savvier candidate, PR-wise.
I just love it! And it's indeed the line of the summer ;)
I love the Paris video. A fantastic response that is 100% appropriate.
But I am left wondering. Are we seeing the new frontier of political advertising?
This video is so well crafted, so well scripted and very fast. I wonder if the the democratic party media machine maybe involved. The use of this "viral" video allows them to truly blast the McCain campaign without actually doing directly themselves. After all McCain dragged her into the process.
I love the politics in this video....OMG...Never thought I would say that in relation to Paris Hilton!
Awesome Paris Hilton video there!
@David: I think most Democrat honchos would have to be off their meds to actually think that producing a video starring Paris Hilton. Plus, this video is too good for the party machine to have been involved.
I'm impressed. Way more qualified than Palin!
She promotes flying and "limited" off-shore drilling? Farewell, world!
