Being Kevin Nalty
Last week I met Kevin Nalty, a certifiable videoblogging star of YouTube.
By day, Kevin, or Nalts, as he's known to YouTubers, is a marketing director for a Fortune 1000 company; he'd attended a talk I did at his company. At what must be every other conceivable waking hour of the day, he produces videos. Lots of them. Nalts has submitted nearly 400 videos to YouTube; his wife says he's addicted. Of course, she and their kids and their neighbors are often stars of his quirky and funny productions.
Based on our discussion of word-of-mouth ethics at the talk, Nalts produced this video spoofing bloggers and video creators who take money to generate buzz.
A few other Nalts productions worth watching: Viral Video Genius and the one that propelled him to fame. Or infamy :)

Beyond being a great reference to producing good videos, Kevin also happens to be a nice guy that always answers emails and provides great feedback. He's taught me alot since we first started emailing about viral video stuff. Wonder if he ever sleeps?
Kevin was a presence on Revver and Metacafe before becoming a Youtube partner. He's been interviewed in broadcast media television newscasts about this online video fad. Expect big things from this guy.
Funny how "youtuber" and "addiction" is so often seen in the same sentence. And I ain't scorning. I'm proud of my vice! :)

Dear Kevin,
I'm very upset at you P.O. video! At the end you show Lemonette smoking pot! What kind of message are you sending to all the kids out there that are watching your videos?
Drugs today destroy lives. Kids out there are now posting KUDO'S to you for the fact you promote smoking pot.
When your kids get older, do you want them doing drugs?
I'm so sad. I enjoyed your videos and now I'm pulling the plug. You better pull the plug on that video and appologize to all of your subscribers. Drugs are not cool. If you are doing them too, you need help.
